From our latest newsletter…

Hope to see you Saturday morning to celebrate the first produce offerings.

For CSA members, we’re gearing up for the first pickup on Thursday, May 22nd from 3 pm until 7 and will have some wonderful fresh produce and eggs for you to enjoy.

You will receive an email with details about your basket next week. Instead of using boxes this year we decided to utilize reusable shopping totes and encourage our customers to bring their own tote (or basket) if they wish. We have some for CSA members offered at our cost, which is $2.50. Of course, we have plastic and paper bags on hand for backup.

Thanks, Susie

This Saturday come by the farm stand (in front of the store) for some of our first pickings from the garden. We’ll also have the first local tomatoes on the market – hydroponically grown in Manchester, KY. I’m usually not a fan of greenhouse tomatoes but these really are tasty (and have a wonderful tomato aroma) so until real summer tomatoes are ripe and ready let’s enjoy this preview!

We have some gorgeous hanging baskets that are Kentucky grown and gorgeous… just the thing to brighten up your porch this summer.

We also have a wonderful organic soil amendment we’re selling exclusively called ‘Starting Gate’ and I can bear witness to it kick starting our landscaping around the entrance. The compost, comprised of horse manure and straw, comes from Lantern Hill Farm of Midway where it has been well tended and composted for 3 years. We are selling it in 20 and 50-pound sacks. It lightens the soil, adding organic matter and nutrients to your garden. Just mix it in the top 2 inches of soil and watch your garden grow!

In addition we will also have some baby cooking greens from the farm, which are also good to eat dressed as a salad. Also, some fresh watercress from the farm, romaine lettuce, assorted herbs; and from the market, hot coffee; muffins; and fresh baked bread from Sunrise Bakery; a new delivery of local eggs and milk; and many prepared foods.

Not sure if we will have strawberries for this Saturday but we will have some next week along with more local asparagus.

We will be opening at 9 am Saturdays throughout the summer so we look forward to seeing you there bright and early!
