Farm Baby Pictures

Queen Latifah and Clyde, 2 weeks old on Derby Day.
Spring is a time of renewal and anticipation on the farm. "The Easter Freeze," as it is known here in Kentucky, was devastating to many in the Bluegrass. Like many vegetable growers, I lost most all the spring crops I had planted and found myself starting over the last two weeks of April. This included many of the perennial culinary herbs and assorted greens I had hoped to start the season with. Even now not all the potatoes and onions are planted and it’s nearly time to transplant the tomato and pepper plants.
But along with this downside I was blessed with a gorgeous baby named Clyde. He’s an American Saddlebred and the type that turns heads. I’ve included his picture for all my friends who insist upon sending me photos of their adorable human babies (the nerve).

what an attitude, he is stunning!! Congratulations

Hi Susie! I am thrilled to find your Blog!! I don’t know where I’ve been, but I checked out your Cake Club Cook Book from our local library and then had to own my own copy- so I searched on eBay and just opened my mailbox to find it waiting for me!!! yeehaw!!! I love this book. Your stories are wonderful and the recipes all sound delicious! I hope I don’t end up weighing 500 pounds! My poor husband- he will be gaining another few pounds I am sure! Who could resist the Tunnel of Love Chocolate-Macaroon Bundt Cake? I wanted to ask if you mind if I Blog about the book? would love to share the recipes on a few pies or at least link to this site if you don’t mind. Just shoot me an email if you have time or stop by my blog- and thank you for a wonderful and delightful book. It is going to become one of my favorites, I may even have to start my own cake club!! ( or exercise club! LOL!)

I saw your program on WLEX today and wondered where I could get some of the smoked paprika. MB

Mary,
You can find the paprika at Honest Farm Market and in Lexington at Wild Oats Market and the Good Foods Coop. The recipe for Spice Rubbed Grilled Rib Eye is in today’s blog.
